Coverage and networks

Your eSIM connects to a partner network in Peru. The networks for each plan are confirmed at checkout.

Most Peru trips run Lima – Cusco – Machu Picchu, often with Arequipa and Lake Titicaca added, and every leg involves tickets, timed entries or transfers on your phone. Machu Picchu tickets are sold for set entry times, so having your booking to hand matters.

Coverage is good in Lima, Cusco and Arequipa. On the Inca Trail and other treks such as Salkantay, and in the Amazon around Puerto Maldonado and Iquitos, it is limited or missing, and at altitude the signal comes and goes between valleys.

Check your phone first

Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. If it was bought from a mobile network on contract, ask them to unlock it before you travel.

  • Dial *#06#. If you see an EID number, your phone supports eSIM.
  • Most iPhones from XR and XS onwards, Google Pixel 3 onwards and Samsung Galaxy S20 onwards support eSIM.

We check it against the list of eSIM phones. Nothing is saved.

Peru eSIM questions

Will I have signal at Machu Picchu?

Aguas Calientes has signal, but at the site itself it is limited and unreliable. Download your entry ticket and train booking before you leave Cusco.

Does it work on the Inca Trail?

Mostly not. There are a few spots with signal, but the trail runs through remote valleys, so plan to be offline for the whole trek.

Can I use it in Bolivia at Lake Titicaca?

No. The Bolivian side of the lake, including Copacabana and the Isla del Sol, is in Bolivia. Add a plan that covers Bolivia, such as a Latin America regional plan that lists it.

Can I buy the plan now and travel next month?

Yes. The plan starts when the eSIM first connects in Peru. Install it within 180 days of buying.
