Check the region first
PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo cards are tied to a country or region. A code bought for one region does not work on an account registered in another, even while you are travelling. Choose the card for your account’s country, not for the country you are in.
PlayStation Store
- On a PS5, open PlayStation Store, then the menu (…) at the top, and choose Redeem Code.
- Enter the 12-character code and select Redeem.
In a browser, sign in at store.playstation.com, select your profile picture and choose Redeem Code.
Xbox
- In a browser, go to redeem.microsoft.com and sign in with the Microsoft account you use on Xbox.
- Enter the 25-character code and select Next.
On an Xbox console, open the Store app and choose Redeem from its menu.
Nintendo eShop
- On a Nintendo Switch, open Nintendo eShop and choose the account to use.
- Select Redeem Code on the left of the screen.
- Enter the 16-character code and confirm.
You can also redeem it on the Nintendo website after signing in to your Nintendo Account.
If the code is not accepted
- Paste the code rather than typing it, and check for mistakes.
- Check that the account’s country matches the card’s region.
- If the store says the code has been used, check the account’s transaction history: the money may already be there.
