Coverage and networks

Your eSIM connects to a partner network in Albania and switches if the signal is better on another one. The networks for each plan are confirmed at checkout.

Albania is outside the EU, and many European plans charge roaming here even though it sits right next to Greece and across the sea from Italy. Most visitors drive the Riviera or take buses between towns, and timetables, ferries to Corfu and guesthouse bookings all arrive by phone.

Coverage is good in Tirana, along the Riviera and in the main towns. On the hike between Theth and Valbona and in other high valleys of the Albanian Alps the signal is weak or absent for long stretches.

You need Wi-Fi and the QR code from your email or your account. Menu names differ slightly between phone models.

    Open Settings, then Mobile Service (or Mobile Data).

    Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code, and scan the code from your email or account.

    Label the new line Niceway Albania and choose it for Mobile Data only.

  4. 4

    Leave the line switched off until you land. Turn on Data Roaming for it in Albania.

Check your phone first

Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. If it was bought from a mobile network on contract, ask them to unlock it before you travel.

  • Dial *#06#. If you see an EID number, your phone supports eSIM.
  • Most iPhones from XR and XS onwards, Google Pixel 3 onwards and Samsung Galaxy S20 onwards support eSIM.

We check it against the list of eSIM phones. Nothing is saved.

Albania eSIM questions

Will it work on the Theth to Valbona hike?

Expect little or no signal on the trail itself; the villages at each end have some coverage and guesthouse Wi-Fi. Save your route offline and tell your host when you set off.

Is the Albanian Riviera well covered?

Around Sarandë, Ksamil, Himarë and the other beach towns the signal is generally good. Coves reached by boat or on foot can be out of range.

Can I use it in Greece on a day trip to Corfu?

No – an Albania plan works only in Albania. For Corfu, add a Greece plan or choose a Balkans regional plan that lists both countries.

Can I buy the plan now and travel next month?

Yes. The plan starts when the eSIM first connects in Albania. Install it within 180 days of buying.
