Your eSIM connects to a partner network in Germany and switches if the signal is better on another one. The networks for each plan are confirmed at checkout.
Germany is a common stop for business trips and trade fairs, and rail tickets, city transport apps and digital fair passes all expect a working connection. Visitors from outside the EU need a plan most: an EU or EEA SIM usually roams here at home prices.
Signal is strong in cities but famously uneven on trains, where long-distance routes cross forests and hills and the connection drops for minutes at a time. Rural parts of Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Bavarian Forest also have gaps.
Example for a 10 GB, 30-day plan. Nothing is used until the eSIM connects in Germany.
The QR code arrives straight away. The 30 days have not started.
Install on Wi-Fi at home. Keep it switched off until you land.
The 30 days start from the first connection to a partner network.

You need Wi-Fi and the QR code from your email or your account. Menu names differ slightly between phone models.

Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code, and scan the code from your email or account.
Label the new line Niceway Germany and choose it for Mobile Data only.
Leave the line switched off until you land. Turn on Data Roaming for it in Germany.
Open Settings, then Network and internet (Samsung: Connections).
Tap SIMs, then Add eSIM or Download a SIM, and scan the QR code.
Set the eSIM as the SIM for Mobile data. Keep your usual SIM for calls.
When you land, switch the eSIM on and turn on Roaming for it.
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. If it was bought from a mobile network on contract, ask them to unlock it before you travel.
Yes, wherever the partner networks reach along the line. Expect short gaps in tunnels and through forests and hills, and download tickets before you board.
Not for most trips. Roam-like-at-home rules let EU and EEA SIMs use their usual allowance in Germany within fair-use limits. Consider an eSIM if your home allowance is small or your SIM is from outside the EU.
A Germany plan works only in Germany. For a trip through the Alps, a Europe regional plan covers Germany, Austria and Switzerland on one eSIM.
Yes. The plan starts when the eSIM first connects in Germany. Install it within 180 days of buying.
