Your eSIM connects to a partner network in the United Kingdom and switches if the signal is better on another one. The networks for each plan are confirmed at checkout.
Since Brexit the UK is outside the EU’s roam-like-at-home rules, so EU providers are free to charge for roaming here, and some do. Check your own plan first: if it adds a daily fee or a small cap for the UK, a local eSIM is usually the cheaper way to stay online.
Coverage is strong in cities and along the main motorways and rail lines. The Scottish Highlands and islands, Eryri (Snowdonia) and parts of the Lake District and Dartmoor have real gaps, and on the London Underground mobile signal is still being added line by line.
Example for a 10 GB, 30-day plan. Nothing is used until the eSIM connects in the United Kingdom.
The QR code arrives straight away. The 30 days have not started.
Install on Wi-Fi at home. Keep it switched off until you land.
The 30 days start from the first connection to a partner network.
Whichever comes first. For more data, buy another plan.
You need Wi-Fi and the QR code from your email or your account. Menu names differ slightly between phone models.
Full install guide with picturesOpen Settings, then Mobile Service (or Mobile Data).
Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code, and scan the code from your email or account.
Label the new line Niceway United Kingdom and choose it for Mobile Data only.
Leave the line switched off until you land. Turn on Data Roaming for it in the United Kingdom.
Open Settings, then Network and internet (Samsung: Connections).
Tap SIMs, then Add eSIM or Download a SIM, and scan the QR code.
Set the eSIM as the SIM for Mobile data. Keep your usual SIM for calls.
When you land, switch the eSIM on and turn on Roaming for it.
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. If it was bought from a mobile network on contract, ask them to unlock it before you travel.
Not necessarily. The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are not part of the United Kingdom and have their own networks, so a UK plan may not cover them. Check the coverage list on the plan before you go.
Mobile coverage is being added across the Underground, and some lines and stations already have it. Elsewhere you lose signal between stations, so download maps and tickets before you go down.
A United Kingdom plan works only in the UK. The Republic of Ireland is a separate country in the EU, so for a trip that crosses the border choose a plan that lists both, such as a Europe regional plan.
Yes. The plan starts when the eSIM first connects in the United Kingdom. Install it within 180 days of buying.
