Your eSIM connects to a partner network in Indonesia and switches if the signal is better on another one. The networks for each plan are confirmed at checkout.
Indonesia stretches across thousands of islands, and most trips combine a few of them – Bali with the Gili Islands and Lombok, or the temples of Java with a boat trip around Komodo. Scooter rental, rides with Grab or Gojek and boat transfers all run through your phone.
Signal is strong in the south of Bali, around Ubud and in the big cities of Java. On the Gili Islands, in the hills of Nusa Penida, on Komodo boat trips and on multi-day volcano treks it can be weak or absent.

The IMEI registration rule applies to phones used with an Indonesian SIM card. A travel eSIM connects as a visiting line, so registration is normally not needed for a holiday.
Both have coverage around the harbours and main villages; the signal thins out in the hills and on remote beaches. Many guesthouses add Wi-Fi, but it can be slow in the evening when everyone is online.
