Your eSIM connects to a partner network in Mexico and switches if the signal is better on another one. The networks for each plan are confirmed at checkout.
Mexico trips often split between the capital and the Caribbean coast, with internal flights or long bus rides in between. Ride-hailing apps such as Uber and DiDi are widely used in the cities and some resort towns, and maps help in the centres of Mexico City and Oaxaca.
Coverage is good in cities and along the Riviera Maya. In the cenotes and caves of the Yucatán there is no signal underground, and remote parts of Chiapas, the Copper Canyon and the desert roads of Baja California have long gaps.
Example for a 10 GB, 30-day plan. Nothing is used until the eSIM connects in Mexico.
The QR code arrives straight away. The 30 days have not started.
Install on Wi-Fi at home. Keep it switched off until you land.
The 30 days start from the first connection to a partner network.
Whichever comes first. For more data, buy another plan.
You need Wi-Fi and the QR code from your email or your account. Menu names differ slightly between phone models.
Full install guide with picturesOpen Settings, then Mobile Service (or Mobile Data).
Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code, and scan the code from your email or account.
Label the new line Niceway Mexico and choose it for Mobile Data only.
Leave the line switched off until you land. Turn on Data Roaming for it in Mexico.
Open Settings, then Network and internet (Samsung: Connections).
Tap SIMs, then Add eSIM or Download a SIM, and scan the QR code.
Set the eSIM as the SIM for Mobile data. Keep your usual SIM for calls.
When you land, switch the eSIM on and turn on Roaming for it.
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. If it was bought from a mobile network on contract, ask them to unlock it before you travel.
In Tulum and along the main road, yes. At the cenotes the signal often stops at the entrance, and there is none underground, so save directions back before you go in.
If you stay on the resort, its Wi-Fi may be enough. An eSIM helps for airport transfers, excursions and days out in Playa del Carmen or Tulum, where you need maps and messages away from the hotel.
A Mexico plan works only in Mexico. For a trip that crosses the border, a North America regional plan covers Mexico, the United States and Canada on one eSIM.
Yes. The plan starts when the eSIM first connects in Mexico. Install it within 180 days of buying.
