Your eSIM connects to a partner network in Portugal and switches if the signal is better on another one. The networks for each plan are confirmed at checkout.
Lisbon’s hills, Porto’s riverside and the Algarve’s beaches are easy to explore with maps and ride-hailing apps, and many visitors work remotely from here for weeks at a time. An EU or EEA SIM usually roams in Portugal at home prices; visitors from the UK, Brazil or North America are the ones who save with a local plan.
Coverage is good along the coast and in towns. The interior – the Alentejo plains and the mountains of Trás-os-Montes and the Serra da Estrela – is more sparsely covered, and the levada walks on Madeira and the crater trails of the Azores pass through valleys with little or no signal.

The QR code arrives straight away. The 30 days have not started.
Install on Wi-Fi at home. Keep it switched off until you land.
The 30 days start from the first connection to a partner network.

Set the eSIM as the SIM for Mobile data. Keep your usual SIM for calls.
When you land, switch the eSIM on and turn on Roaming for it.
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. If it was bought from a mobile network on contract, ask them to unlock it before you travel.
No. Both are autonomous regions of Portugal and are served by Portuguese networks, so a Portugal plan covers them.
If you rely on it as your main connection, start with 20 GB or more and buy another plan if you run low. A video call can use a gigabyte an hour or more, so a co-working space or a flat with Wi-Fi is still the better base for daily calls.
A Portugal plan works only in Portugal. For a trip across the Iberian Peninsula, a Europe regional plan covers both countries on one eSIM.
Yes. The plan starts when the eSIM first connects in Portugal. Install it within 180 days of buying.
