Your eSIM connects to a partner network in the Maldives. The networks for each plan are confirmed at checkout.
Most resorts include Wi-Fi in rooms and public areas, so many visitors only need a small plan: for the seaplane or speedboat transfer, for messages away from the room and for local islands such as Maafushi, where guesthouse Wi-Fi can be slow.
Mobile data for the Maldives costs far more to buy than for most destinations, which is why the plans here are priced higher and only small ones are listed. Coverage follows the inhabited and resort islands; out on the water, on excursions and sandbank trips, expect to be offline.
Example for a 5 GB, 30-day plan. Nothing is used until the eSIM connects in the Maldives.
The QR code arrives straight away. The 30 days have not started.
Install on Wi-Fi at home. Keep it switched off until you land.
The 30 days start from the first connection to a partner network.
Whichever comes first. For more data, buy another plan.
You need Wi-Fi and the QR code from your email or your account. Menu names differ slightly between phone models.
Full install guide with picturesOpen Settings, then Mobile Service (or Mobile Data).
Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code, and scan the code from your email or account.
Label the new line Niceway Maldives and choose it for Mobile Data only.
Leave the line switched off until you land. Turn on Data Roaming for it in the Maldives.
Open Settings, then Network and internet (Samsung: Connections).
Tap SIMs, then Add eSIM or Download a SIM, and scan the QR code.
Set the eSIM as the SIM for Mobile data. Keep your usual SIM for calls.
When you land, switch the eSIM on and turn on Roaming for it.
Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. If it was bought from a mobile network on contract, ask them to unlock it before you travel.
Not always. If you will stay on the resort island, its Wi-Fi may be enough. An eSIM helps for transfers, excursions to local islands and when the resort Wi-Fi is slow or charged separately.
Mobile data costs more to buy for the Maldives than for most destinations, and our prices follow that cost. That is also why only small plans are listed here.
Rarely for long. Near islands with masts you will pick up a signal, but most of the open water between atolls has none.
Yes. The plan starts when the eSIM first connects in the Maldives. Install it within 180 days of buying.
