Your eSIM connects to a partner network in New Zealand. The networks for each plan are confirmed at checkout.
Most visitors explore New Zealand by campervan or rental car, and navigation, campsite bookings and ferry tickets between the North and South Islands all need data. Many campsites and holiday parks have only paid or limited Wi-Fi.
Coverage is good in towns and along most main highways. The road to Milford Sound, the West Coast between towns, Arthur’s Pass and many of the Great Walks have long stretches with no signal.
Example for a 10 GB, 30-day plan. Nothing is used until the eSIM connects in New Zealand.
The QR code arrives straight away. The 30 days have not started.
Install on Wi-Fi at home. Keep it switched off until you land.
The 30 days start from the first connection to a partner network.
Whichever comes first. For more data, buy another plan.
You need Wi-Fi and the QR code from your email or your account. Menu names differ slightly between phone models.

Not for most of it. Coverage fades not long after Te Anau, and Milford Sound itself has very limited signal. Download your cruise booking and maps first.
Mostly not. Huts and tracks are generally out of range; carry offline maps and a personal locator beacon on remote walks.
Near Wellington and Picton, yes; in the middle of the strait the signal can drop for part of the crossing.
